\\ pure earth, boiling sea, and electric torrent
what a day! not only did i stay up too late last night, i got up early too.
i went to work after briefly updating the beats' myspace and we
sold sooo many amplifiers today. good day for business.
and on a busy day like today, it's hard to remember that it is remembrance day.
so, although i do not condone war by any means, i was thinking about that today,
it has that depressing feeling of death but also that hopeful future spin.
i'm not sure what this world has for us in the future, but i would love to see us
treating each other and our planet better.
i was also reminded about the best concert i ever attended in victoria, about 2
years ago. this is how the story went:
i took the bus, skipping my last class to attend a demo concert by mr. lanois
at the local L&M (in the cedar acoustic guitar room) with just lanois and brian
blade (drums) and met the man. i felt like i was meeting a celebrity (i was) but
he felt like a warm fire, just so relaxed and open. i told him i was looking after
my brother, and he said "no you're not, i'll leave your name at the door"
i contained all screaming of joy, etc.
the night was so fucking beautiful. it was absolute pure earth, boiling sea, and
electric torrent. you don't even ask how or why, it was a wave of elation.
their were no drawn out fades, or unnecessary facades. mostly two perfect
storytellers complimenting each other and the most beautiful songs.
if you care about modern music, you'll listen to daniel lanois. and emmylou harris.
i love her too. profound, spiritual, and both eloquent.
when you find an artist who speaks so intimately with your values and
writes such incredible music, and then stretches them over into a live show that
leaves you sweating.. what's better than that?
anyways, he cut radiohead in half. shredded them.
also! tim stewart (of counting heartbeats) is now officially engaged.
that's 3/5ths of the band locked down, lord help them. guide their hands
towards the path of rock.
amen.
holy matrimony!
